Have you ever wanted to print your own fabric or print on a piece of clothing to change it up a bit? Join Barb and Lori for a day of exploration into fabric printing. A variety of printing items to get your creative juices flowing will be supplied: ranging from leaves, string wrapped around a block, potatoes for carving a stamp you design yourself, to a selection of intricately carved wooden blocks from India and numerous possibilities in between. In fact we invite you to bring objects that you think would make an interesting design on fabric.
Learn about the fabric paint, Setacolor, and how to use it, about printing on different kinds of fabric and about some basic elements of design.
After spending time experimenting (colour, repeat patterns, layering images, etc.) on sample fabric, you will be ready to design and print two tea towels and one large cotton scarf to take home with you. Participants are welcome to bring their own small fabric items to print as well - not too big as we might run out of paint and time!
Please note: If you want to try printing on silk, Floating Stone Silks has hand woven silk scarf ‘blanks’ from Cambodia available for purchase (in Courtenay.) Please arrange by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org .
