Event description

Description

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is the best treatment for those who have difficulities regulating their emotions. DBT helps with rumination, PTSD, trauma, reducing emotional pain and suffering, increasing abilities to handle distress, accepting reality and become more mindful. DBT also helps those who may engage in self harm, eating disorder behaviour or addiction. With DBT we create a life worth living free from suffering and brings joy into our lives. Learning DBT can be fun! We pride ourselves in making learning FUN and interactive! We use powerpoint presentations, videos, role plays, break out groups, games, interactive activities, DBT charades, and group discussions. There are opening and closing mindfulness and take home practices each week. The group is taught by many people in the health care field (social workers, peer support workers, mental health nurses, Psychology students) who also have lived experience with BPD and many of us also have teaching backgrounds - a great combination! We come from a place of truly knowing and often bring powerful real life examples from our own lives into the groups which inspire. Our DBT group is psychoeducational which means it's not a sit in a circle tissue type support group as it is a group where you are learning beneficial life skills and practicing them in your lives. You are more like a student in a safe and comfortable learning environment with others who also struggle with their emotions.
