About this event

This course is designed to give programmers an introduction both to the Java programming language as well as object-oriented programming (OOP). Java is a very well known and widely used language applying to almost any field. The course will review some basic coding concepts but introduce many that are specific to object-oriented programming such as inheritance, polymorphism and encapsulation. The course will end with an introduction to designing graphical user interfaces (GUI).

Classes will be weekly on Wednesdays 6-7pm EST, from Oct. 13-Dec 8, virtually over Zoom.

This free online course is for youth ages 13-17. Online learners are invited to join us virtually, while our learners in the Kawartha Lakes area can join us in-person at our Makerspace.

You will need a computer, laptop, or Chromebook with an internet connection to participate in this course. If you don't have a compatible device or reliable internet connection, email us at so we can help ensure you can participate.
