Event description
Learn how to make two basic ferments that you get to take home with you, as well as discuss the benefits of fermentation.

About this Event

Carolin May Mursall from Down To Earth Farms & Learning Centre will be our guide and teacher. Carolin is a mentor of mine and a dear friend I cherish.

We will be making two basic ferments that you get to take home with you, as well as discuss the benefits of fermentation, and sampling previously made ferments. It is our goal to take the mystery out of this art and set you on your way to better health.

Kombucha scobies will also be available to those interested, in limited supply.

Fermentation increases the nutritional value of raw produce. In addition to the ramped up vitamins and minerals, fermented vegetables carry friendly bacteria and live enzymes. These cultures are beneficial to both your digestive and nervous system while protecting our bodies from harmful bacteria and other toxic substances.

A word from Carolin.

"When my children were young, I became very concerned about how our food was being grown and what I was feeding my family. So as soon as we could, we moved out to the country, and started on our homesteading journey. From my viewpoint, produce should be grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and herbicides. Animals should be raised in as close to a natural setting as possible, eating what their bodies were designed to be eating. So we embarked on a journey to grow clean veggies, and happy meat and eggs. And it didn't stop there! I have a desire to know all the ways to nourish our bodies to promote good health. This includes fermenting, as well as other forms of food preservation, herbal remedies, wild and medicinal edibles and foraging, I grow most of what our family needs, and I sell extra as well, as I know not everyone can grow their own food, especially meat, but are still concerned about what they are putting in their bodies."
