About this Event

In this session we will review child development psychology and attachment theory (an introduction).

More about this series:

Decades of research have demonstrated that the parent-child dyad and the environment of the family—which includes all primary caregivers—have a key role in supporting their children's social and emotional development. From birth, children are learning and rely on parents and the other caregivers in their lives to protect and care for them. Parents help children build and refine their knowledge and skills, charting a trajectory for their health and well-being during childhood and beyond. The pandemic has impacted many individuals including parents greatly. Parents have been experiencing more stress than before because they have been dealing with new challenges related to the COVID-19 situation in addition to the usual challenges of raising healthy and happy children and teenagers. In order to be there for your children, it is also important to make time to take care of yourself.

Skills for Change “Wellness and Support” program will be hosting a series of virtual workshops in February and March to explore and help you understand different available theories and interventions to support parents strengthen their parenting skills, focusing on childhood and adolescence. In these sessions, we will provide psychoeducational workshops and group sessions related to parenting skills.

Additionally, as part of the “Wellness and Support” program, we provide individual counselling. If you have questions about our program and services, or would like to register for this series of workshops on “2021 Parenting Psychoeducation” please email us at: mentalhealth@skillsforchange.org.
