About this event
PRANAYAMA: aka Breath Work
Did you know that proper breathing is essential for your psychological and physical health and well-being?
Breathing influences mental health conditions, your ability to cope with stress, as well as immune system function. In this series of 5 one hour LIVE online classes offered weekly, you will be guided to start and maintain a regular breath practice.
Led by a registered psychotherapist and mental health practitioner, these classes are grounded in yogic science within the Kundalini Yoga and Hatha Tradition, somatic therapy, Western anatomy/physiology/psychology, AND practice (less theory, more action).
This course is suitable for beginners and more experienced breathers. We dive into the fundamentals of breathing so that you can apply the practice to other areas of your life.
You won't be alone.
When you sign up you will automatically join the StudioSeed community, having access to a community forum, as well as resources to support your budding breath practice. Small class sizes means that you can ask your questions and actually have them answered in class or in the community forum.
Be inspired and deepen your practice even further.
You can also choose to join our breathing community, the People of the Prana to be connected and supported by breathers all over the world, while you build your daily practice. Pranayama practice sessions are held 6:30 am EST every weekday morning and are also delivered to your inbox so that you can practice any time during the day. Pranayama focused yoga is offered every Monday at 7pm EST.
About your Instructor: Esther Kalaba
"Your breath is a gift.
I have been taught within the Kundalini Yoga tradition and have been teaching these practices for many years now to people of all ages and backgrounds in the context of my clinical practice as a psychotherapist, art therapist, and yoga teacher. What I come back to again and again is how important, how utterly fundamental breath is to all aspects of our lives (physical, mental, and emotional). Our lives are profoundly enriched when we become conscious of the breath, this incredible healing resource we have been given within our own bodies, should we allow ourselves to become attentive to it. I am so honoured and excited to share these transformative and healing practices with you."
What others have said:
"In her classes, Esther enthusiastically and generously shares her vast knowledge of pranayama practice providing both its scientific and spiritual foundations. Through my work with her I’ve developed so many wonderful strategies to enhance personal awareness as well as increase focus and creativity. As she said at the beginning of the course “it’s like brushing teeth” when you start to meditate regularly and now I miss it if I don’t. I highly recommend working with her!" (Dr. Laimon, Montreal, Canada).
"Almost one year ago, I began a breathing practice with Esther Kalaba twice per week. What followed was an inspiring in depth journey into Pranayama in the Kundalini tradition, in which Esther is extremely well versed. Esther blends true spirituality and knowledge of Pranayama with a kind and funny teacher's patience. I have learned many techniques and shared many transcendent moments with Esther and the other breathers. Following Esther's Pranayama practice has expanded my consciousness, helped me lower stress levels and pass this difficult Covid year with a deep sense of groundedness, while providing practical tools each session. I mightily recommend her class to beginners and experienced practitioners alike." (Jen, theatre director, Toronto, Canada).
"I took Esther’s Introduction to Pranayama online course and I absolutely loved it! Esther is highly experienced and knowledgeable and dedicated to her practice and I am so grateful to her for passing on her wisdom. I was highly anxious when I started the course due to work/personal and covid stress and within about a week or two of this course, combined with daily practice, my nervous system had almost completely regulated. What a great reminder that I live in my body and not just my mind. Thanks Esther. Eternally grateful." (Susanna, High School teacher, Brighton, UK).
