In this 2-hr workshop, we introduce you to R and RStudio at the beginner level. This is a pre-requisite for all our other workshops.

About the Workshop
In this workshop, we introduce you to R and RStudio at the beginner level. This condensed 2-hour workshop is meant to get you started in R and acts as a pre-requisite for ALL our other workshops
You will learn how to:
- navigate RStudio including data and packages
- organize your work with scripts and projects
- import data from a file or on the web
- create and work with basic data types and data structures (vector, data frame, etc.)
- find help with functions in R
This workshop will take place in person, if there are any changes, we will change it to Zoom and a Zoom link will be provided to participants prior to the workshop via email.

We will have 3 separate intro to R workshops, please choose the one that is most convenient for you!

- Monday, Feb 14, 2:00 - 4:00pm (Tentatively in person)
- Monday, Mar 21, 2:00 - 4:00pm (Tentatively in person)
Pre-requisites
None - You just need to have a laptop, or borrow one at UBC Library Technology Borrowing
Funding and Fees
ECOSCOPE workshop fees are collected on a cost recovery basis only. We strongly encourage students and postdocs interested to ask their research supervisors to cover these fees in order to sustain the workshop initiative. Supervisor payments can be made directly to ECOSCOPE using journal vouchers. Contact us for more information on how to effect this process.
