Build a line following robot that autonomously drives around a race track using infrared sensors, motors, and Arduino.

About this event

Learn how to use sensors, motors, and Arduino to observe and navigate through the world by building a line following robot that drives autonomously around a race track. No previous experience is necessary.

This class will touch on the design process for building your own robot from scratch, how tools such as Fusion 360 computer-aided design (CAD) can be utilized to rapidly fabricate components with 3D printing and laser cutting, a beginner-friendly introduction to Arduino and programming, a discussion and demonstration of various sensors and actuators that can be used in robotics, as well as a demonstration of several real robots to inspire your own creations.

This class is very hands-on! You'll assemble the robot hardware, make the electrical connections, learn to write Arduino software, and further customize the robot however you want. After the class, you can take the robot home to continue modifying, exploring, and learning.

The ticket price includes a take-home robot valued at $70.

Project: Build hardware, assemble electronics, and program a line following robot.
