A non-profit board should lead the organization as a team, establishing a balanced working relationship in which they understand and respect each other. Learn how your board can become a cohesive team enhancing strategic direction and effectively solving problems.

This introductory workshop provides a basic understanding of what is required for strong board governance.  It is an essential workshop for first-time directors as well as directors looking for a refresher.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Define the role of your board
  • Identify the board model that works best for your organization
  • Identify and describe primary board responsibilities
  • Understand the roles of the Board and Executive Director/CEO

Facilitator: Bhavana Varma is President & CEO of the United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington. An experienced facilitator with over 20 years in the not for profit sector, she brings insight and learning from her work with boards and staff locally and nationally.

All Board Governance workshops start at 5:00pm and include light refreshments.
