Event description

Description

On November 2, 2019 from 1pm-4pm at Lucy Pearlle (3677 Nafziger Road, Wellesley, Ontario; enter the studio from the doors on the West side of the building), join Patricia of Purely Patricia for a soap making workshop! In this three hour workshop, you will learn the basics of soap making using the cold process method - from the history of soap, to the chemistry of soap, and how to make soap. We will go over lye safety, soap recipe formulation, and other soap making techniques. Participants will take home 2.5 pounds of plant-based soap (about 10 bars), a wooden soap mold, and an instruction booklet. A variety of essential oils, botanicals, and tools will be available to customize your soap.

For your safety while making soap, please wear a long sleeve shirt, pants, and closed toed shoes. An apron to wear can also be helpful to keep your clothes clean from oil splashes. Long hair will need to be tied up. Safety goggles and gloves will be provided. This workshop is appropriate for people 13 years of age or older. People under 18 require parent/guardian permission. All participants need to sign a waiver at the beginning of the class. If you have any allergies or require special accommodations, please let Patricia know beforehand (hello@purelypatricia.ca).
