Want to learn how to build your own website? Join us for Hackademy’s inaugural course and find out all about how to use WordPress. WordPress is an open source Content Management System (CMS), often used as a blog-publishing application, powered by PHP and MySQL. It has many features including a plug-in architecture and a template system. Nearly 20% of all websites around the world, including TechCrunch and CNN, run on this popular open-source platform and we want to help you get started!
This class will take you through the basics of using WordPress, including:
- What is WordPress?
- How to set up your account and website settings on WordPress.com
- How to navigate the WordPress dashboard
- Setting up themes and designing your site
- Creating Posts and Pages
- Using plugins and widgets
- Introduction to further tools you can use, including setting up your own domain name
A light lunch will be provided; please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.
Beginners welcome! Anyone with an understanding of how to use a computer and navigate websites should be just fine in this course.
Please bring a laptop with wireless Internet connectivity. (If you do not have access to a laptop, please contact us for other arrangements.)
Your payment of $50 guarantees your seat in the course. If you cannot attend the course, you may sell or give your seat to someone else as long as you let us know in advance. We do not generally offer refunds but will consider in the case of extenuating circumstances.
If Hackademy cancels a course all participants will be refunded any fees paid via PayPal. Participants may choose to transfer a registration to a future Hackademy course if desired.
We make a certain number of seats per class available to those for whom the fee is an issue. Please contact us to learn more.
