Introductory Unity VR Workshop
Sat, May 6, 2017, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM PDT
Join us May 6th, 2017 for our Intro Virtual Reality Development Workshop in partnership with the Consumer Virtual Reality (CVR) Conference. Learn to build a VR game from scratch using Unity with the help of Academy of VR's instructors. No previous experience required.
By the end of the VR Development Workshop you will have built a VR submarine piloting game and be able to begin extending your knowledge to making VR content of your own. During the afterparty you'll have time to relax, get to know a community of VR devs and learn how to startup your own VR projects. Want to learn more? Checkout our HTC Vive Development Course on May 7th.
During the workshop, you will:
Have a full day of VR development training with professional instructors from Academy of VR
Build a submarine piloting VR game in Unity that you can show on any smartphone
Receive a free Google Cardboard for testing your VR project
Receive all project files and a full course curriculum outlining the course modules in detail
Enjoy complementary coffee and a catered dinner
Play nearly every game on the Vive & Oculus Rift during downtime (seriously, we have almost everything!)
You'll learn to:
Build a VR game from scratch in Unity
Utilize the Google VR tools and SDK
Use Unity, the leading 3D engine, to create VR apps of your own
You'll leave with:
A VR project you can show off and build upon
A stronger understanding of how to use Unity to create your own VR projects
A network of friends and colleagues who are passionate about VR
A laptop or computer with Unity version 5 (free) installed (Mac's are acceptable)
A mouse with a scroll wheel is highly recommended (trust us, it makes a huge difference)
Consumer Virtual Reality (CVR) is the premier event to experience groundbreaking new virtual and augmented reality technology. Held on the Canadian west coast in beautiful Vancouver, the event brings together consumers, developers, businesses, and tech enthusiasts for a weekend of fun that shapes the future of VR and AR. CVR is produced by Archiact.
Jason Campbell, Amanda End and Daniel Nascimento have a combined 10+ years of experience building VR/AR software and applications in Unity. They've worked on professional projects that include commercial releases for large companies and VR studios, independent game contracts as well as self-publishing original content on platforms like Steam.
