Invasion: Christmas Carol
Overview
Toronto’s newest holiday comedy tradition comes to life at The Assembly Theatre with Invasion: Christmas Carol, produced by Knifefight Theatre.
A faithful yet wildly funny take on Dickens’ classic, the show features six actors playing all the beloved roles — Scrooge, Cratchit, Marley, and the spirits. But each night, a surprise guest “invader” — a beloved member of Toronto’s improv comedy community — crashes the story. Drawn from pop culture, history, or pure imagination, the invader’s job is to throw the story off course, and it’s up to Scrooge and company to weave their antics seamlessly into Dickens’ world.
This year’s run opens with two very special guests: Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) on December 2, and Andrew Phung (Kim’s Convenience, Run the Burbs) on December 3 — followed by a rotating lineup of surprise guest “Invaders” every night.
Saturday matinees are family-friendly with special ticket deals for parents and kids.
Sunday, December 7 will be Pay What You Can at the door (while supplies last).
If you’d like to guarantee yourself a seat, regular-priced tickets remain available online — but PWYC tickets will be offered for anyone facing financial barriers.
