The Cape Breton Partnership will host its AGM and Investor Summit on October 10, 2013 at the Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa in Ingonish Beach, Cape Breton.

Business  and community leaders are invited to network, collaborate and discuss issues facing the local economy, and provide input on building a strong economic future for Cape Breton - Mulgrave. This event will be the eigth of its kind bringing together the almost 200 businesses that form the Cape Breton Partnership Investors.

This year's Investor Summit focuses on innovative ideas and instilling positive community attitudes towards business.

                                                                           Topic: Seven Powerful Trends

                                                                           We live in a dynamic, ever-changing world, where businesses are affected by shifting trends in society and consumer behaviour.

                                                            In this fascinating keynote presentation, Dianne uses video excerpts from Dragon’s Den, and draws on her extensive experience in covering business for CBC News, to show how companies are exploiting trends to gain new revenue.  She also uses examples of those who are rising to the challenge of adapting to new ways of doing business to avoid being left by the wayside.

                                                                           Long-time home brewers, Jeremy White and his wife, Melanie, recognized opportunity in Nova Scotia’s craft beer market and decided now was the time to scale beer production to a commercial level.  Big Spruce Brewing was founded on the simple belief that excellent beer can be crafted using the freshest, highest quality ingredients – like hops from Big Spruce’s certified organic hop yard. The brewing company continues to explore niche market voids for certain beer types, and intends for their year-round selections and farm-fresh seasonals to fill those market needs.

Providing innovative relationship-building frameworks and strategies, Tanya is aiding in the development of new and existing businesses and contributing to a vision of a stronger Cape Breton.

Dave Scholz is a Partner and Chief Marketing Officer at Leger, The Research Intelligence Group.  With over 20 years’ experience in public opinion and marketing research, Mr. Scholz has been a leading figure in all phases of both qualitative and quantitative projects across Leger’s divisions. 

Mr. Scholz specializes in communication research and will provide analysis and discussion on the topic of Cape Breton Island’s reputation.  He will explore the various marketing and attitudinal influencers that the Island is doing well and the areas in which there is room for improvement.
