On February 14, 2022, a declaration of a public order emergency under the Emergencies Act was issued “to end disruptions, border blockades, and the occupation of Ottawa’s downtown core.” Discussion of the political, legal, economic and parliamentary impacts of this declaration dominated the discourse in early 2022 – but what can be said one year later? This seminar will gather practitioners and academics to examine the Emergencies Act, its invocation, and lessons from 2022 for government, Parliament and beyond.

Le 14 février 2022, le gouvernement fédéral a déclaré l’état d’urgence en vertu de la Loi sur les mesures d’urgence « pour mettre fin aux perturbations, aux blocages et à l’occupation de la ville d’Ottawa ».
