Featured speakers:
Steve Eccles
Steve brings a unique background to his role at Northeastern, combining corporate C-suite executive experience with post-secondary education innovation and leadership. With a shared values-based approach to building teams and supporting student success, he focuses on education and workforce development strategies that secure positive economic and social outcomes in BC and across Canada.
Abstract: With a focus on advanced technology programs at the graduate level, Northeastern University is committed to collaborating with industry, and developing programs and content in response to a rapidly increasing demand for talent. How can we work together to develop educational solutions that meet the needs of all learners, whether they’re in high school, all the way through to university graduate students? And what can we do to diversify the pool of talent in a way that creates better outcomes for employers?
Ivo Georgiev
Ivo is a co-founder of Mirai Security and a cyber security veteran with 30 years of professional experience in management and technical roles. As a trusted business adviser, Ivo is assisting companies on their digital transformation journeys, often assuming the role of a CISO.
Through his extensive experience of working with clients in highly regulated industries, Ivo enables businesses to generate sustainable revenue streams from large customers demanding compliance with privacy legislation and data security standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF and GDPR.
Ivo holds the internationally recognized CISSP security designation and additional professional certifications in information systems auditing and security risk management (CISA, CISM, CRISC).
Outside of a work environment, Ivo frequently mediates disputes between his two young children. He has found that this activity may be almost as complex as aligning security programs to corporate business objectives while optimizing enterprise security budgets
Abstract: Canadian privacy legislation is being reformed to better serve our society and protect our rights during the age of advertising. The presentation will offer a view on the role information security will play in enabling organizations to comply with the reformed privacy legislation and meet the expectations of their stakeholders.
