Description

The Aga Khan Council for Edmonton in partnership with the Aga Khan Museum is pleased to present a special workshop with Islamic geometric design expert Eric Broug.

Author and designer Eric Broug has offered numerous workshops on Islamic geometric design, and will be demonstrating how the rules and design principles of this design tradition enabled craftsmen to make beautiful and complex compositions. Use the same tools as craftsmen have used for centuries, and learn how to make a number of geometric patterns including designs from the Aga Khan Garden, Alberta.

No prior skill or experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity, your creative spirit, (papers, pencils and marker pens will be provided). Suitable for all ages.

--

The workshop will consist of:

1. Presentation: An Introduction to the Basic Principles of Islamic Geometric Design

2. Drawing Sessions: Fourfold Patterns & Sixfold Patterns

The workshop has limited space in order to keep the experience intimate and memorable for all participants.

Refreshments will be served.
