An evening of storytelling with internationally renowned writer and storyteller Ivan Coyote in support of GSAs.

iSMSS is honoured to host Ivan Coyote for an evening of storytelling and spoken word poetry. Ivan Coyote will be sharing their truths through storytelling and spokenword poetry on what it takes to be who you are fully and unapologetically. After the performance, guests will have a chance to meet Ivan Coyote and have their books signed.

  • Doors Open: 6:30 p.m.
  • Community Tabling: 6:30 p.m.
  • Show Start: 7:00 p.m.
  • Book Signing: 8:00 p.m.

All proceeds from this event will be used to support the GSA Network and help sustain GSA initiatives throughout the year. While we no longer have funding for our GSA Network, iSMSS has seen first hand the importance of GSAs in schools. It is imperative to us that we continue to support students and staff the best way we can. Thank you for your support.

Biography

Ivan Coyote is a writer and storyteller. Born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon, they are the author of twelve books, the creator of four films, six-stage shows, and three albums that combine storytelling with music. Coyote’s books have won the ReLit Award, been named a Stonewall Honour Book, been longlisted for Canada Reads, and been shortlisted for the Hilary Weston Prize for non-fiction. In 2017 Ivan was given an honorary Doctor of Laws from Simon Fraser University for their writing and activism. They have toured public schools solo around the world for 17 years now, using the power of a personal story to fight bullying and make schools safer for students, staff and parents. In 2019 Ivan will mark 25 years on the road as an international touring storyteller and musician, and release their new book, ReBent Sinner, with Arsenal Pulp Press.

We encourage all who have the financial means to donate a ticket to a deserving youth. Your donation will provide a ticket to an individual to attend the event for free. You can make a donation through the ticket tab. Subsided tickets are $20. General Admission tickets are $40.

If you are a youth or an individual who would like to attend the brunch but who is unable due to lack of funds, please register here. The tickets will be given on a first come first serve basis based on the number of donated tickets available. You will be notified when a ticket becomes available.
