Event description

Description

Jane's Walk is a movement of free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. It encourages people to share stories about their neighborhoods, discover unseen aspects of the community, and use walking as a way to connect with neighbors.

Join us for a community walk in Brantford. Help clean the downtown core, and safely discard needles. Instruction and safety procedures will be presented by Public Health representatives at the beginning of the event. We will meet in Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie St.), and continue our walk throughout the downtown core, highlighting the various services and supports offered, while cleaning the streets. Our goal is to establish a safe, clean, diverse, and beautiful community for everyone. Support us at this Jane's Walk by reducing stigma against mental health and addictions!

Substance use disorder, along with mental health problems are health conditions, and should be treated like so. It's not a choice, but can be treated successfully. Particularly when we replace stigmatizing words and perspectives with understanding and compassion.
