Jesus Centred Housing | Simplicity

Housing affordability and economic inequality are big issues. How do we make wise choices? Should we rent or buy? Does scripture have anything to say about Real Estate? and what can we do as the Church? Join Michael Crook Saturday November 16 to interact with those questions

Overview:

Over the last 20 years, urban housing affordability has grown to be a leading issue around the world. Cities are engines of economic growth but also inequality and economic injustice. This workshop mixes practical tools and knowledge with a Christian framework for making wise choices about our own housing. The workshop will cover:

  • How the conventional wisdom about housing is wrong and why it persists

  • The politics of real estate and why, despite handwringing from politicians, affordability keeps getting worse

  • Ways of thinking biblically about real estate markets in the modern world

  • How living out values of simplicity and community can create new models for housing, less stress and more human connection

  • How to understand the true cost of housing and be stewards of our homes whether renting or buying in the city

  • What role the church can play in addressing housing affordability.

About Michael:

A lifelong student of theology, economics and politics, Michael trained as a real estate appraiser in the midst of the global financial crisis, before spending the last decade building software tools for the largest real estate investors in the world. (More Information)
