At the Centre, we think pride in your creative accomplishments is something to celebrate. Acquiring a technical skill can be the most satisfying, especially when you are able to take something beautiful home with you! Students will learn the basics; materials, proper use of tools, techniques, and soldering of silver with an emphasis on safety. Your imagination for projects is your only limit: earrings, bangles, chains and band rings are all possibilities. Tuition fees include the use of all tools and equipment; students will be required to purchase their own beginner kits which include metals (available through the Centre).
Lynda Lou MacIntyre is an artist living in Cape Breton. She studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education degrees. Her goal was to teach art, which she did, first in Victoria Co. and then in Sydney Mines. She had found her niche and loved her work and students.
Currently, Lynda Lou finds more time to produce her art. Her medium regularly shifts between watercolour painting, metalsmithing, silk painting and printmaking. Her work, inspired by travel and the beauty of nature, has been exhibited in group shows and three solo shows. She has taught countless workshops, most notable two watercolour/travel journal workshops in Italy, and is a regular jewellery instructor at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design. No class October 10th.
