THE JIM BEAM STILLHOUSE SONGWRITER SESSIONS
Set in a listening room atmosphere that creates a unique experience for both artists and fans, The Jim Beam Stillhouse Sessions will focus on the craft of songwriting and the stories that go along with it paired with incredible stillhouse inspired food and beverages.
THE LISTENING ROOM ATMOSPHERE
What you will experience here is a listening room. And while the performers love the audience to applaud and laugh, too much conversation during the show distracts other listeners and is disrespectful to the songwriters who form the backbone of this very special evening. We encourage talking before the show, between sets, during intermission, and after the show but ask that during the performances, audience members keep their voices low and talking to a minimum.
MEET THE SONGWRITERS
AMY METCALFE is an 8 time ACMA nominated multi talented singer/songwriter from Red Deer Alberta. She has co-written with Grammy award winners, played festivals in China and been top 50 on Canadian Country Billboard Music. With self penned songs on pop and country radio, her love for song writing and talent to tell a story is evident in every song.
She has written over 250 songs herself and co-written with talents such as Byron Hill (Gary Allen, Kenny Rogers, George Strait….) Grammy award winners and Nominees Cindy Morgan and Wayne Kirkpatrick (Little Big Town, Faith Hill, Martina Mcbride, Trisha Yearwood…),Duane Steele (Gord Bamford) , and Phil Madeira(Garth Brooks, Civil Wars, Toby Keith…) to name a few.
MARK TIMES is a songsmith at work. He’s a novelist with a Gibson, plucking stories from the windswept prairies and humming to the slow clack of typewriter keys. His work is the product of raw emotion filtered through a thoughtful process, distilling songs that are just the right amount of head and heart. His self titled EP, released in November of 2017, earned him nominations for the singer/songwriter and roots/folk recording of the year at the Edmonton Music Awards, while the track “Saskatchewine” received an honorable mention in the Canadian Songwriting Competition. His debut release was quoted as “[bringing] as simpler, more real country back to the forefront” (tourbusentertainment.com) and garnered comparisons to Nashville’s roots-renaissance songwriter Chris Stapleton (topcountry.ca). Times’ anticipated full length album, slated for release in the fall of 2020, finds him wading further into the Americana waters, with songs grounded by his honest vocals and intimate storytelling, and elevated by acoustic guitars and pedal steel.
