Event description

Description

The Clearly Musical Home Concert Series, hosted by Joanna Grace, features musicians in unique, up-close musical experiences that cannot be matched in large concert halls. These concerts in the heart of Richmond Hill bridge the gap between audiences and performers. You will have the opportunity to clearly see and hear the performance and ask questions to learn more about the musicians Joanna & Ingrid!

This September 22 concert has a mental health theme, featuring music by Schumann, Rachmaninoff and Beethoven. These composers, all touched by mental illness during their lives, produced beautiful music that we can’t wait to share with you.

JOANNA GRACE (horn) shared her undergraduate studies between the University of Western Ontario and the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Her Master of Music degree is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Joanna teaches horn and piano to students of all ages in her Richmond Hill studio. In 2016 she received the Emerging Creative Talent award in Richmond Hill for “Leadership in Originality and Innovation in the Creative Industries”. www.joannagrace.ca

INGRID TAHERI (piano) came to Canada in 1987 not sure whether to pursue music or perhaps journalism. She first earned a diploma in Corporate Communications from Centennial College and then pursued a BA part-time at York University. She earned her ARCT in piano performance at age 40+. She is a Registered Music Teacher with ORMTA and maintains an active home piano studio in Thornhill. In 2014, Ingrid founded High Notes Avante Productions Inc. The charities’ Ted-Talk and Grammy-inspired High Notes Gala for Mental Health was awarded Best Creative Innovation at the Richmond Hill Cultural Summit in 2017. www.highnotesavante.ca
