Conceptual Portraits by Johan Sorensen.
Throughout history, there have been many debates on what a portrait is or how to create a portrait. Portraits have been shaped and created in different mediums such as sculptures, paintings and photography. But within each medium, there are specific rules “on how” the portrait should look.
Regarding photography portraits, there is of course, “the classic” portrait, in which your subject is photographed from the chest up using traditional lighting methods of the highest standards. However, today with modern digital photography, combined with journalism, new standards of portraits have emerged and the impression has changed.
I have been working on Conceptual Portraits for the past year, and it is very demanding. The challenge is to fuse my imagination and my creativity into one outlet. It is important for the model/subject, props and the environment to work well together in order to achieve “the image impact”. One can see in my images that the results, are, no doubt, a creation of art in combination with portraiture.
In this presentation I will talk about how to make this approach fun and creative with lighting and posing. This seminar will equip you with lots of new ideas for you to take away.
