Join your Members of Parliament for a Public Townhall meeting

Topic: Toronto Pearson International Airport and Our Communities

WHEN

Saturday, May 27th 2017, 2pm to 4pm

WHERE

Silverthorn Collegiate Institute, 291 Mill Road, Etobicoke ON M9C 1Y5

Dear Friends,

Over the past few weeks you have no doubt experienced an increase in airplane traffic over our neighbourhoods. This increase in airplane traffic has been the result of construction to the airport’s main runway, and we have received assurances that, at the end of the construction period on May 16, airplane traffic will return to “normal”.

Although there were website postings, it was unacceptable that our community was not proactively informed in advance of this construction work. We raised this issue in meetings with the GTAA management and with Nav Canada, the company that directs flight traffic, on April 20th in Toronto and again on May 2nd in Ottawa.

Although this increase in flight traffic over our homes is temporary, and we have received numerous assurances that our neighbourhoods will return to “normal” in mid-May, this recent episode has raised serious concerns about the prospect of longer-term changes to airport operations.

Our communities deserve answers. That is why, we have called a Town Hall meeting for May 27th and we have invited representatives of the GTAA and Nav Canada to come and speak directly to our community about the future of the airport.

Note: Please reach out to our offices with any questions

Sincerely,

MP Fonseca, Mississauga East-Cooksville
