Event description

Description

To see an established cohousing community and one in development, take advantage of the opportunity of two-for-one tours of Harbourside Cohousing and its new sister community, West Wind Harbour Cohousing—now under construction (occupancy in 2020).

Visit Harbourside, the cohousing community profiled in The Globe & Mail's Arts & Books section on Saturday, March 9, 2019. See what the paper describes as the "shared amenities you might find in a strata of 150 or 200 units, all for the use of a smaller group" of just 31 households.

Would you like housing that is "beautiful and more sustainable" than conventional housing? Would you like social connection and neighbours who care? Harbourside has no vacancies at present, but its sister community, West Wind Harbour Cohousing, is seeking a few more members whose answer is "yes" to those questions.

Come tour Harbourside and West Wind Harbour to see if cohousing might just be for you, and find out how to get involved before all the new units are spoken for!

Visitors can view architectural drawings as well as plans and prices for the available units: 5 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom units—all with dens. If conditions allow, you can don safety gear (provided) to tour the construction site.

West Wind Harbour is under construction a few hundred meters along the waterfront from Harbourside. West Wind’s new, L-shaped building will include 34 complete condo units—all with spectacular views of water and mountains—and almost 7,000 sq ft of common amenity space. Included will be a spacious dining and entertainment area overlooking Sooke Harbour and Basin, exercise and crafts rooms, bicycle and personal storage, underground and surface parking, and a roof deck with expansive water and mountain views to the south, east and west. Waterfront access is just steps away with a wharf and storage for kayaks and canoes; moorage for larger boats is available at the marina next door.

Just north of West Wind Harbour's new building, the spacious older home of the founding members will offer additional common space—a workshop in the former garage, and inside the gracious home several guest rooms, a library, kitchen and dining space for smaller gatherings.

Come see for yourself!
