Sustaining the Scattered 2017 Retreat
Thursday October 5 (5 PM) to Saturday October 7 (12 Noon), 2017
Come and journey with others in pastoral and spiritual care ministries, spiritual directors and those in formation programs who desire spiritual companionship, rest, encouragement and a deeper, richer experience with God, in the context of a contemplative community. On this retreat, we invite you to spend time with sacred companions (who are scattered across our land) that will enrich your soul, engage your mind, and refresh your spirit.
Nestled on top of one of the highest hills of Hockley Valley, participants will soak in the beauty and tranquility to renew, relax and rest amongst 308 acres of pristine pastures, hills and woodlands. This retreat begins at 5 PM Thursday and ends at 12 noon Saturday and includes large and small group sharing, fellowship, prayer, teaching and worship. Throughout, are woven spacious and restful times of solitude and silence.
Journey to Wholeness; Ascent & Descent is the 2017 Sustaining the Scattered Retreat and includes:
A nurturing community of sacred companions who desire time to learn, grow and share together
Scripture, prayer, reflective and sustaining disciplines which keep us focused on biblical, contemplative and Trinitarian means of grace
Prayerful spaces for deep reflection
Times of solitude and silence for personal and spiritual reflection
Featuring noted teacher and practitioner of spiritual dirction, Adele Calhoun
Adele delights in adventure, beauty, creativity, and the God who makes all things news. She brings over thirty years of ministry experience; author, pastor, spiritual director, professor and retreat leader. Art and icon writing are among her many interests. Adele has worked with at risk teens and served in mission’s positions within the United States and overseas. Adele is currently a Pastor of Spiritual Formation for High Rock Church in Arlington, MA. She is adjunct faculty for Selah, a training program for spiritual directors and serves with her husband, Doug, at the Pax Center for Spiritual Formation, The Transforming Center, and Vision New England.
She is the author of The Spiritual Disciplines Handbook (IVP), Invitations from God (IVP), Coloring the Psalms: Seeing God’s Patterns in our Lives (IVP) and True You: Overcoming Self-/doubt and Using Your Voice" (IVP).
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Bring comfortable clothing, Bible, pen and journal. In Ontario rural settings, early October may be chilly during the evening, you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket with you. All other materials are included with your retreat package.
Try not to bring, Cell phone, laptop, iPod, work, or anything else that will be a distraction or barrier to getting the most out of your retreat experience.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
What is the refund policy?
Please provide as much advance notice as possible so that we can offer your place to another retreatant. If a request for cancellation is received fourteen (14) or more days prior to the start date of this retreat, a refund of the retreat cost minus a $25 administrative fee will be issued. If a cancellation request is received less than fourteen (14) days prior to the start retreat, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. No refund will be given if a retreatant leaves early or arrives late. Please note the Evenbrite registration fee is non-refundable. Will there be opportunity to purchase books?
Yes. There will be a book store on site. All of Adele Calhoun’s books will be available. Other relevant and applicable books will also be for sale.
Can I register with a cheque?
Yes. Let us know a cheque is your preferred payment by contacting the Registrar directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Credit cards are accepted via Eventbrite on this site.
Can I register via monthly payments?
Yes, most definitely! Contact the Registrar directly at "email@example.com" to activate a periodic or scheduled payment plan.
Are the accommodations single?
Newly built accommodations include single rooms with ensuite and linens. Some suites for married couples.
