Joy Robinson is an emerging singer-songwriter with a passion for creating spaces in which audiences can relax with safety to feel, question, or ponder. With the combination of being both a theatre artist and worship leader, she is drawn to lyrics that explore the spiritual and emotional nature of our human existence as well as the quirky and ordinary things that make life beautiful. Her folksy pop musical style is a combination of her Newfoundland roots mixed with her country, gospel, and musical theatre influences.
Joining Joy is special guest Kyla Ferrier.
Kyla Ferrier is an indie rock singer-songwriter whose music is at once barebones and poetic, rocking and anthemic. Her dreamy sound has been compared to acts like Daughter, Anohni, Grimes, and 90s alt rock bands. The first decade of her recording career was spent keeping a low profile as a musical performer, focusing on songwriting, production, and video creation. In May 2022, Kyla decided to commit to regular live performance by setting a goal to play as a street busker a total of 50 times over the course of the summer. She met the goal, and many beautiful people along the way. Kylas music has been featured on CBC Radio One by Rich Terfry, who described the song as, Ghostly beauty. You really enjoy how the song is crafted, just the atmosphere of it, feeling it gives you when you listen to it. Theres a real haunting quality about it.
