Junction Reads with Heidi von Palleske and her novel, TWO WHITE QUEENS AND A ONE-EYED JACK
About this event
Heidi von Palleske joins us to read from her novel, TWO WHITE QUEENS AND A ONE-EYED JACK. Published by Dundurn Press, this novel weaves together multiple perspectives from characters whose view of the world around them is altered in some way, and as readers, we journey with them as they discover new ways of seeing.
"A boy falls from a tree and loses his eye on a thorn bush. His body rejects the acrylic artificial eye he is given, so his mother returns to Germany, the only place that makes real glass eyes, and must face a past she had run away from. From albino twins to glass eyes, from Punk Opera to the fall of the Berlin wall, this is book about sight and seeing. And love."
"Heidi von Palleske is a writer, actor, and activist. She has written poetry, articles, and fiction, and won the H.R. Percy Novel Prize for They Don’t Run Red Trains Anymore. Heidi spends time on both the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts, but calls Toronto home."
This is a PWYC event with proceeds going to the author.
