Justice, Advocacy and Spiritual Practice retreat with Judy Graves
Fri, 20 January 2017, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM PST
St. James Anglican Church
Join us for a day-long retreat to reflect on the role of spiritual practice in non-profit, advocacy, justice, and social work. This retreat, hosted by City in Focus and lead by Judy Graves and Chris Chiu, is tailored to all those who either work, volunteer, or have a deep interest in any of these fields.
We will ponder the challenges of devoting one's time or career to fighting for justice amidst the world's injustices, and we will discover how spiritual practice can ground, rejuvenate, and help us in continuing our work.
Throughout her 33-year career with the City of Vancouver, Judy Graves served as a tireless advocate on behalf of those marginalized by homelessness. The recipient of numerous awards, including the 2014 City in Focus Award, Judy has spoken at length about the importance of spiritual practice in her life-long work.
Chris Chiu is the Director of Retreat Ministries for City in Focus and he is also the Program Coordinator of Jesuit Spirituality Apostolate of Vancouver, they are a gateway to spiritual formation resources for Vancouverites in business, government, non-profit agencies and churches. He is also a spiritual director with the Soul Stream Community.
