Description

Greenest City is hosting Kairos Blanket Exercise at Milky Way Tseyshing Garden. Join us as we explore the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Using KAIROS Canada’s most popular teaching tool, the BLANKET EXERCISE, the evening’s activities will be co-led by Kairos trained facilitators, Dawn T Maracle and Zoe Aarden, who will take participants on an experiential journey back through 500 years of Canada’s past.

Dawn T Maracle BAH, B. Ed., M. Ed.

With twenty-five years working with and for Indigenous communities, organizations, initiatives and campaigns, Dawn has multiple education and Native Studies degrees. She has experience in Indigenous education & training, health/medicine/tobacco, governance, women and the arts. Both degrees were earned at Trent University Her Master’s thesis, “Sexing the Indian” was opted for publication and she plans to continue with her PhD. Trigger warning: The Blanket Exercise touches on many painful experiences – disease outbreaks, residential schools, 60s scoop, foster care, missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and loss of status. Strong emotions can surface. There will be health support on site.
