What do I need to do before sessions begin?
If you are a returning participant, please pay and fillout paperwork at your first class. If you will miss this class, please arrange an alternative time with Carrie at email@example.com
If you are a new participant, please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your first class to fill out the necessary paperwork, make payment and receive your uniform. If you cannot do this, please contact Carrie at firstname.lastname@example.org to make alternative arrangements.
*You must fill out an in-home waiver form, pay and have a uniform to participate*
If my child is a returning participant, will they experience new activities?
For those that are coming again, they will challenge them with new activities and moves to learn. Those that pick up the curriculum can be graded for a belt, should the parents want them to. They would set a date and time for them to grade, where they would perform their Karate moves in front of instructor who would mark them.
This is not a graded class session. Although some kids may be offered a chance to grade for a belt at some point, it may take several sessions to do so. There is no expectation of advancement of belt for any session.
What If I need to bring my other children with me?
As you may be needed to assist your child with ASD during the session, please ensure you have another adult with you to supervise the sibling in the waiting room. Siblings CANNOT be in the dojo/classroom. Siblings cannot be left unattended in the waiting room.
If you will be bringing a sibling to wait with another adult while your child with ASD participates in the karate class, please ensure that the sibling is not interrupting or distracting the karate classes. Thank you.
Where can I park?
Parking can be located at the Nelson Square Parking Garage, in behind The Brampton Academy of Martial Arts, which is also where the main entrance is as well. It is on Diplock Lane, which is off of George St just north of Queen St. During the day the first hour is free, then it is $1 per half hour. After 7pm and on weekends it is free. Here is a link for parking areas: http://www.brampton.ca/EN/residents/Parking/Pages/municipal-parking-garages.aspx
Street parking can be difficult to find so we do suggest using the garage.
