A guide to beginner's kayaking

About this event

We ask our allies to allow BIPOC members only to register for this event. Thank you.

Join us for a beginner's paddling experience that will also emphasize skill learning and safety whilst on the water. No previous experience is required.

The following gear will be provided: paddle, life-jacket, and a spray skirt.

On the day dress for the weather in clothes that will be comfortable for activity/getting wet.

Recommended:

  • Secure wet footwear, if you don’t have booties or water-shoes then wear something like running shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
  • A non-cotton toque if it’s chilly, or brimmed hat if it’s sunny.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Water bottle and snacks.
  • Towel, and a change of clothes for after your paddle in case you get wet.

Note: this event will be in Deep Cove, BC and will take place rain or shine. Due to Covid restrictions, we cannot organize carpooling. You will have to organize your own drive or commute.

This event is taking place on the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
