About this event
Kazoo! & Von Dehn Homes Present:
Bonnie Trash
Led by Guelph-based twin sisters, Sarafina and Emalia Bortolon-Vettor, Bonnie Trash is a brain-melting goth-infused “emotional doom project”. Bonnie Trash’s music has gotten more dense and expansive since they last played Kazoo! Fest in 2019 and we have no doubt that their set at Royal City Mission will fill everyone with spiritual fervour.
Jasmyn
We’ve long been fans of Jasmyn Burke as a front person for the amazing post-punk group Weaves. With her new solo project, Jasmyn takes all the catchiness, emotion, and complexities of Weaves, while bringing the music to new levels as she plays with genres exploring everything from infectious art pop to dancey electro post-punk. And at the heart of it all are some beautifully written, catchy-as-hell songs. You don't want to miss the Guelph debut of Jasmyn.
Matthew Cardinal
Matthew Cardinal is an amiskwaciy (Edmonton) based ambient electronic musician, composer, and sound designer. Also a member of the Polaris shortlisted band nêhiyawak, Cardinal’s solo material evokes deeply personal emotions, exploring beautiful sonic textures in the vein of ambient artists such as Brian Eno and Fennesz. Cardinal put out an incredible debut release, Asterisms, on Arts&Crafts in 2020 that we can’t stop listening to. Mark this one as a do not miss.
André Ethier
Toronto-based singer-songwriter André Ethier has done a lot. Whether playing with the non-defunct garage rock heroes, the Deadly Snakes, venturing on his own in the mid-2000s with laid back delta blues-driven folk rock, or pushing his visual art practice to new heights, Ethier keeps moving. With a trio of beautiful, surreal, and subtle LPs released on Telephone Explosion, culminating with 2021's excellent Further Up Island, Ethier and his music continue to evolve. Beautiful, raw, affirming -- this is remarkable music by a remarkable artist.
