A classically-trained and award-winning fine artist, graphic designer, and illustrator who creates imaginative realism art quilts.
About this event
Kestrel Michaud is a classically-trained and award-winning fine artist, graphic designer, and illustrator with a passion for creating imaginative realism art quilts. She graduated with honors in 2010 from Ringling College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration. Her fine art training, creative mind, inventive nature, 18 years of experience, and unique style make Kestrel's work unlike that of any other artist.
Kestrel’s award-winning quilts are the culmination of a lifetime of artistic growth, and this presentation starts with a biographical look at her artistic life: From winning her first art show as a 9-year-old, through discovering fabric in High School, re-discovering fabric in college, and finally transitioning to quilting. Then Kestrel goes step-by-step through her process of quilt design in its entirety, from initial sketch to free-motion quilting.
