Event description

Description

For the 3rd year in a row, The SportLab, the Town of Huntsville, the Ontario Provincial Police, Rotary Club and Algonquin Outfitters have come together to present the Kids' Bike Rodeo - a fun, educational bike clinic focused on teaching kids the basics of cycling safely, all in a non-threatening environment.

The Kids' Bike Rodeo is appropriate for kids aged 5 to 12.

There are FOUR half hour time slots available for registration:

  • 4:30 - 5:00 pm
  • 5:00 - 5:30 pm
  • 5:30 - 6:00 pm
  • 6:00 - 6:30 pm

Participants will go through 6 stations geared to helping them improve their cycling knowledge and skills.

  • A Bike Safety Check
  • Helmet Safety Check
  • Road Safety (signs & hand signals)
  • A Mock Intersection
  • Shoulder Checks
  • An Agility Course

Afterwards, each cyclist will receive a healthy snack, a completed checklist, a certificate and some free gear!

The SportLab is excited to help our young residents participate safely in regular physical activity such as cycling. We also hope to motivate kids to think about cycling as a possible sport of choice as they develop into young adults.
