Event description

Description

The King's University invites your child to earn their degree in just one day!

Sign up for a morning of kid-sized King's classes to learn about the wonders of science, art and literature. Share a bit of your own favourite King's experiences with your children, connect with fellow alumni and favourite professors, and keep an eye out for changes on campus since your last visit.

Each Kids @ King's student will choose to enrol in three "elective" classes with a variety of engaging activities and come together for our world-famous Chemistry Magic Show. Parents, grandparents and guardians will accompany their students as they get a sneak peek at life as a university student.

"Tuition" for this event includes lunch for each student and their chaperone featuring classic university meal options. We'll also host a mini graduation ceremony complete with a degree parchment and the opportunity to dress up in the official cap and gown for a commemorative photo.

FAQs

Who can register for this event?

Kids @ King's is open to all children of alumni, students, staff, faculty, friends of King's and even members of the community surrounding our campus. Many of the activities and "classes" offered last about 20-25 minutes each and are geared towards school-aged children (ages 5-10).

If cost is a barrier, are there discounts available?

Alumni Relations is pleased to offer subsidies to ensure families have equal opportunities to participate, especially if they have multiple children. To apply for the limited number of "scholarships", please contact alumni@kingsu.ca or 780.465.8318 as soon as possible.

Can I bring my baby or children under the age of 5?

Younger children are also very welcome to attend. They can participate as much as they are able along with the help of their parent/guardian. There will be no daycare facilities so please consider bringing whatever you'll need to keep your little ones entertained.

Can I drop off my child at King's and pick them up after the event?

No, this event requires all children to be accompanied by their parent/guardian at all times. The King's University is not responsible for the care of your child(ren). It is our hope that this will also be a great opportunity for parents in the King's community to socialize and reconnect with old friends.

What are my parking options at this the event?

The King's University has complimentary parking in the large lot on the east side of the building. A limited number of visitor stalls are located at the main entrance (northwest parking lot) in addition to designated stalls for persons with disabilities near campus each entrance.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We will have an up-to-date list of attendees at the event's welcome table. Our team will be happy to check your name off the confirmation list and provide each student with their "course schedule" and other essential supplies.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

In order to print accurate degree parchments for the graduation ceremony, we do require the correct names and spellings for all children participating. Please ensure that the registration information is correct.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you are able to edit registration information even after the tickets are purchased.

What will you do with my registration information?

All of the details provided will assist us in making this event a success. Not only will we know how much food to prepare, we'll know the age range of the students and ensure that there is a designated parent or guardian with them. The King's University protects your personal information and adheres to all legislative requirements with respect to protecting privacy. The information you provide will be used to deliver services and to keep you informed about King's events and news. Individuals who submit information to The King's University acknowledges the above and consent to the collection and use of personal information.
