About this event
World-class physicians, doctors, researchers, and scientists will be speaking and diving into how the future of health care is evolving. Discussions on cutting-edge research, emerging life sciences innovators and experienced industry veterans from the United States and Canada will come together to open up the conversation on how academia, industry and government need to collaborate and adapt in innovative ways in health care and the life sciences industries.
The cities of Kingston and Syracuse are naturally connected - in proximity and through shared economic advantages and interests. Kingston, Syracuse and their surrounding regions are both home to world-class academic, research institutions and innovative ecosystems. The Kingston Kingston Syracuse Pathway Conference will focus on the health care and life sciences sectors. Topics include vaccines, global health, infectious diseases, Lyme disease, health care systems, and life after COVID-19. This full-day event will include networking, keynote speakers, panel discussions and pitch competition.
Pitch Competition: for startups in the life and health sciences. Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre will be facilitating the competition and there is a $5,000 prize for the top pitch.
Kingston Economic Development Corporation is pleased to be hosting the conference on June 7, 2022 at the Holiday Inn Kingston-Waterfront (2 Princess Street.)

- Dr. Stephen J. Thomas - Professor of Medicine, Microbiology & Immunology, and Infectious Diseases physician-scientist from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Director of the Institute for Global Health and Translational Science and the interim chair of Microbiology and Immunology.
- Dr. Gerald Evans - Chair of the Division of Infectious Diseases , Professor of Medicine, Biomedical & Molecular Sciences, and Pathology & Molecular Medicine at Queen's University. Attending physician in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine and Medical Director of Infection Prevention & Control at Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital.
- Dr. Steven Smith - Deputy Vice-Principal Research at Queen’s University, Vice President of Health Sciences Research at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, and President & CEO of the Kingston General Health Research Institute.
- Dr. Robert J. Corona - DO, CPE, MBA, FCAP, FASCP. CEO of Upstate Medical University Hospital and Community Hospital.
- Mayor Bryan Paterson - Elected as the 96th Mayor of the City of Kingston in 2014. Economics professor at the Royal Military College of Canada.
- Mayor Ben Walsh - Elected Mayor of Syracuse in 2017.
- Dr. Robert Colautti - Former Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Rapid Evolution and an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Queen’s University.
- Dr. Saravanan Thangamani - SUNY Empire Innovation Professor at the Upstate Medical University. Director of the SUNY Center for Vector-Borne Diseases and the Vector Biocontainment Laboratories.
