Event Details

The Art and Science of Wound Care is a comprehensive, educational program designed for wound care clinicians in all the various health care delivery settings. The program purpose is to assist caregivers in gaining confidence and competence, both in administering direct wound care and in optimizing the potential for wound healing. It is a presentation of the art of caregiving as well as the science that guides its delivery.

This session will consist of the following clinical modules, participant interaction and workshops:

  • Holistic Approach to Wound Healing
  • Local Wound Assessment
  • Skin Integrity and wound healing
  • Pressure Injury Prevention


Kimberly LeBlanc PhD, RN, NSWOC, WOCC (C), IIWCC
Advanced Practice Nurse, KDS Professional Consulting

Kimberly LeBlanc is the Scientific Chair of the Wound Ostomy Continence Institute and a certified Wound Ostomy and Continence (WOCC (C)) Nurse working with KDS Professional Consulting. Kimberly is an Adjunct Professor with the University of Western Ontario Masters in Wound Healing Program and a visiting lecturer at the McGill University School of Nursing and University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine.

Kimberly is the immediate past president of the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel and an international expert reviewer for the Joanna Briggs Institute in Australia and a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Advances in Skin and Wound Care. Kimberly has lectured nationally and internationally and is considered an expert on ostomy and wound related issues in the aging population. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on ostomy and wound related topics.

In 2016 Kimberly was awarded the Registered Nurses of Ontario Leadership Award in Nursing Education (Academic) and the prestigious Canadian Nurses Association Order of Merit for Nursing Education in 2016. In 2018 she was awarded the 2018 Nurses Specialized in Wound Ostomy Continence Canada Association President’s award for her contributions to WOC nursing in Canada.
