Kitsilano Cycle and Sketch
A late summer bike ride. The leaves are turning. The air is cooler. It might be rainy, or crisp. It might be damp and warm. It might even be sunny! It’s the magic of the season turning. Let’s go for a bike ride to sketch what the parks look like around this time of year.
We will start at Arbutus Coffee at 11:00am. Feel free to arrive early for a coffee and initial sketch. There is outdoor and indoor seating. AND — there is a mobi bike installation along W 7th Ave, at Arbutus, if you don’t want to trek your bike out or happen to not have one right now.https://www.mobibikes.ca
We’ve got a few stops along the way planned. Parks mostly. We will try to stick with quiet roads, roads with bicycle lanes, and bicycle-only paths. The terrain is mostly flat. We’ll stop at about 4 locations in and around the neighborhood of Kitsilano.
End time is estimated as 1:30pm. We will try to keep the group together. If you’d like to go on your own at any point or join later that is perfectly ok. Our final sketch location will be Charleson Park green (the big coloured beans).
Keep an eye on weather forecasts and temperatures. Get your rubber boots ready. Have a coat. A waterproof sac. Let the rain do some of the work with your watercolours, or use oil pastels. Maybe just pens. Mix it up and think of what will work for you. Even if that is just one pencil and a solo piece of paper. :D
We’ll have fun! Come with a smile! Anticipate your challenges and accept them, you will be happy you did.
Of course, it might just be a beautiful gorgeous sunny blue sky and will not be a challenge at all…….
As always, be safe and review some safety tips: http://vancouver.ca/streets-transportation/cycling-safety-tips-and-regulations.aspx
Hope to see you there!
