Knitting: (Introductory Level) - Washcloth
Date: January 23 - February 20, 2018 (Tuesdays, 5 weeks)
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Instructor: Tamsin Sloots
Fee: $65 plus HST (Members) | Fee: $74.75 plus HST (Non Members)

Learn the basics of knitting and make something useful while you’re at it! In this class, students will learn everything they need to know to begin their (hopefully, life long! ;))
journey as a knitter.

In this class you will be introduced to the two basic knitting stitches: knit and purl, and you will learn how to use these two stitches together to create a variety of textures and effects that will form a very non-threatening washcloth!

Students should bring with them size 8 or 5 mm needles, worsted weight yarn - acrylic or wool in a solid colour, scissors, notepad and pencil.

Tamsin Sloots is a maker of prints and textile objects originally hailing from Hamilton, Ontario. She has a diploma in textiles from Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario and a BFA Interdisciplinary from NSCAD University in Textiles and Printmaking. Tamsin is currently working out of the Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design as an artist in residence for 2017-2018 where you can likely find her quilting up a storm or elbow deep in a vat of indigo. She thoroughly enjoys spreading her love of craft to people and experiencing the community and practicality found through making and creating. You can learn more about her by visiting her website: tamsinjohanna.com
