COVID-19 : IMPACT ON MENTAL HEALTH & PREPARATION IN THE POST PANDEMIC PERIOD
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a serious threat to global mental health. The uncertainties and fears associated with a resurgence of the virus and economic recession are predicted to lead to a high probability of an increase in the burden of mental health issues in the post-pandemic era. The aftermath is obscure and speculative from a social, economic, individual and public mental health perspective. Previous major public health emergencies showed that more than half of the population developed mental health problems and required mental health intervention. There is an urgent call for more attention given to public mental health to assist people through this challenging time and to prepare for future challenges in the post-pandemic era in terms of prevention and management. As such, Dr. Lee will talk about the following topics.
Dr. Lee received his basic medical qualification, MD, from Korea University College of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea in 2002. He completed his Psychiatry training at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea (2003-2007) and then worked as a military psychiatrist at Korean Army (2007-2010). Dr. Lee completed his fellowship in Anxiety and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Samsun Seoul Hospital, Seoul, South Korea (2010-2011). He obtained a Master(MSc) and Doctorate Degree(PhD) in genetics and epidemiology of psychiatry in 2010 and 2015, both from Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, South Korea.
