Event description

Description

Kyp Harness is a novelist, poet and singer-songwriter. He’s Ron Sexsmith’s favourite songwriter, and Ron has recorded some of Kyp’s work. He’s been compared to Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and John Lennon. Townes van Zandt, Bob Wiseman and Mary Margaret O’Hara have tipped their proverbial hats to his talent; and Daniel Lanois says simply, Kyp is a “great writer.”

Kyp receives high praise from critics as well: "Harness is one of the best songwriters this city – if not this country – has seen"– (Eye Magazine, Toronto)

Exclaim's Michael Barclay notes Kyp’s work "should rightfully be hailed as a national treasure."

Of Kyp’s 1998 album, Houdini in Reverse, ID Magazine says, "Harness is an urban poet of the highest order. No one who cares about songwriting in this country or any other can ignore him any longer."

Kyp Harness has stayed active since then, with 12 more albums under his belt and plenty of accompanying accolades. We’re very pleased that Kyp will join us on Sept. 28, 2018 at the Old Boehmer Box Factory for another Alternatives Journal / Princess Cinema House concert. And we very much hope that you will join us too!

This five minute mini documentary is a great intro to Kyp:
