Spring is the time to remember our relationships with the Land and Community!
Come early to join Gokoomis Jacque Lavalley for Sunrise Ceremony and sit by the Sacred Fire with Johnny Moore. Dance with Jingle Dress Dancer Brianna Olson and hear the heartbeat of Mother Earth in Toronto Council Fire’s Big Drum! Walk for the Water with Grandmother Vivian Recollet and plant Native Medicines with Isaac Crosby. There will be Land-based Cooking with Candace’s Catering, a Drum Circle with The Indigenous Network, Land-based play with Noojmowin Teg Health Centre, and talks about Land-based Early Learning with Hopi Martin in our new Bush Play Centre. Come bring your whole family to listen, play, and participate in this full day of learning!
Come join the York Region Nature Collaborative’s partnership with Indigenous community members as we explore ways to renew good relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in the beautiful land connected to the Humber River for the benefit of our youngest learners.
Timing of the day:
7:30 am - Sunrise Ceremony and Sacred Fire (optional)
8:30 am - Registration and light breakfast
9:15 am - Jingle Dress Dance, All Nations Dance and Big Drum
10:15 am - Variety of different learning experiences
11:30 am - Lunch
12:15 pm - Variety of different learning experiences
3:30- Closing Circle
