The Landlord Learning and Networking Forum is an annual event organized by Landlord's Self-Help Centre and supported by the participation of multiple housing industry partners and organizations providing services to the small landlord community.
The Forum showcases services that support small landlords and provides an opportunity for small landlords to learn about the regulatory environment which governs rental relationships. The Forum offers an ideal setting for networking with peers. Once again this year, the Forum is combined with LSHC's Annual General Meeting and will inlcude a brief business meeting as part of the program.
5:30 pm to 7:00 pm - Doors open and we kick off the evening with Networking and the Information Fair.
The Information Fair brings landlords and service providers together to informally interact, service providers share information about their programs and services that support landlords and landlords ask questions and gather printed material. During this time landlords also have the opportunity to network and share experiences with their peers and enjoy light refreshments.
Confirmed participating organizations include the Landlord and Tenant Board, Ontario Paralegal Association, Rental Housing Enforcement Unit, Smoke Free Housing Ontario, Toronto Hydro Low Income Support Program, the Insurance Bureau of Canada, VHA Home Healthcare, Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Shelter, Housing and Support Administration, Landlord's Self-Help Centre, and others yet to be announced.
6:00 pm - A representative from each of the organizations participating in the Information Fair will introduce their program or and provide an overview of their purpose and how they help small landlords. The Information Fair and Networking continues until 7:00 pm
7:00 pm - LSHC's Annual General Meeting - The meeting includes reports on LSHC's activities, priorities and challenges over the last year and offers insight into current projects. Introduction of the Board of Directors, Treasurer's report, appointment of auditors, Bylaw Amendment, and Election of Directors is also included.

7:20 pm - The Secondary Rental Market in Ontario Research Report - LSHC commissioned report to determine size of the secondary market rental units in Ontario and to project for the grow or loss of those units in the next 5 and 10 year periods. Highlights of the report will be presented by the author, Cassandra Vink, Vink Consulting, via remote link.
7:30 pm - Provincial Small Landlord Consultation - Sonya Rolfe, from the Housing Branch of the Ministry of Housing joins us to speak about the recent Small Landlord Consultation led by the Ministry last spring.
7:50 pm - Second Suites Ontario - Launch of Education Project - In partnership with the City of Toronto and Province, Ministry of Municipal Affairs, LSHC has developed educational materials to support homeowners thinking about creating and operating a Second Suite. The website and project materials will be launched at the Forum.
8:00 pm - Panel Presentation: The Changing Regulatory Environment - Bill 132 Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan Act - A panel of legal service providers, Luciella Longo, lawyer; Doug Levitt, lawyer, and a paralegal (pending confirmation), will discuss Bill 132 amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act and how those amendments will impact small landlords.
An opportunity for questions will follow the presentation.
