Event description

Description

Legal Assistance of Windsor is hosting Legal Aid Ontario's Racialized Communities Strategy Consultation.

We want to hear from Windsor's racialized community members and their experience accessing legal services.

This consultation process will be faciliated by a member of the Racialized Communities Strategy, Moya Teklu.

Light refreshments will be provided.

In 2016, Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) committed to developing a multi-year, multi-faceted, province-wide Racialized Communities Strategy (RCS) to identify and prioritize the legal needs of racialized clients (e.g. clients who self-identify as Asian, Black, Latin American, Middle Eastern, Mixed), build upon the services and supports that LAO has in place, and expand access to legal services. For more information about the RCS visit https://tinyurl.com/y7e82khj

The questions we will be asking and topics to be covered include the following:

What do you know about legal aid?

What has been your experience accessing legal services?

How can legal aid staff enhance their knowledge and skills?

Collecting race-based data

How can LAO best advocate for you?

Please specify if you or someone else attending with you, requires an interpreter. If you require equity-related accomodation to participate in the event, please contact via email gattoc@lao.on.ca or call (519) 256-7831 ext. 4215.
