Event Details

This is a 6 class course running Tuesdays from 6:30pm-9:30pm, starting January 9 and ending on February 20.

Prerequisite: CSDM 1N26 Intro to Adobe Illustrator or equivalent experience.

In this studio workshop, students create 3D sculptures, using 2D laser cutting and CNC milling technologies. Students will design projects by creating scale models and digital files in Adobe Illustrator. Components for projects are produced from the digital files at OCAD U's Rapid Prototyping Centre to fabricate laser cut and CNC milled elements in paper, wood and plastics. Sculptural practices involving bas-relief, planar & modular construction, surface design, and scaling will be considered. Studio work will be supported by art and design history presentations and group critique. Students are responsible for all costs incurred with the production of their work in the OCAD U's Rapid Prototyping Centre. Commercial endeavours are not permitted.

All students are required to provide their own laptops with the Adobe Illustrator software.
