Event description
Learn about cancers that affect young people and what makes them unique from adult cancers.

About this Event

Join us for an evening of exciting talks by some of Calgary’s top cancer researchers.

You will learn about:

  • trends in cancer incidence and prevention efforts in young people; talk given by Dr. Miranda Fidler-Benaoudia
  • models that are used to study sarcoma and identify new treatment options; talk given by Dr. Michael Monument
  • psychosocial issues facing young people with cancer and strategies for supporting them; talk given by Dr. Fiona Schulte

Chairing the event will be Dr. Jennifer Chan, Deputy Director of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute and an expert in neuropathology and childhood cancer.

We will also have live scientific demonstrations, hosted by some of our brightest trainees, that showcase a few of the techniques we use to study cancer in the lab.

Light refreshments will be served after the talks.
