TAPA has taken a leadership role in collecting statistics for the theatre, dance and opera industry for the city of Toronto since 2004. In partnership with the Strategic Counsel this work originally began with the TAPA Stats Reports Phase I, Phase II and Phase III.
As part of our ongoing commitment to audience development, and as a natural next step in this work, TAPA’s Audience Project Committee in partnership with the Strategic Counsel created an audience survey that was distributed city-wide via the TAPA membership this past spring. We are now ready to present the results of the Audience survey.
We look forward to seeing you at the presentation and we strongly encourage you to join us and show a strong turn-out for culture at the City.
When & Where
Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts
TAPA was originally formed in 1977 and officially incorporated in 1979. Then known as the ‘Toronto Theatre Alliance’, the organization was much smaller, and has since grown substantially. At the end of our last fiscal year, the membership consisted of 192 members reflecting the diversity of Toronto. To better understand the broad spectrum of needs to the various TAPA membership categories, TAPA introduced and established a number of active committees that have member representation, and help us to build a solid foundation from which to launch new initiatives.
How we reflect on our past has an impact on how we move forward. TAPA has successfully created new programs and services; secured new funding from government, private and corporate sectors where it did not previously exist; and restored support from the membership. There is no doubt that TAPA continues to be a leader as a vital arts service organization.
