The Club's Annual Tribute to Our Public Defenders welcomes LCol. David Fearon, Chief of Staff, 31 Canadian Brigade.
Topic: From the Present to the Past and into the Future: History as a guide in preparing for 21st century conflict.
Lieutenant – Colonel Dave Fearon MSM, CD, is Chief of Staff 31 Canadian Brigade Group. Lieutenant-Colonel Fearon enrolled in the Canadian Army in 1995 and joined the Royal Canadian Regiment in 2001. He has served in both light and mechanized battalions deploying to Bosnia and twice to Afghanistan. He commanded both the Duke of Edinburgh’s Company and Foxtrot Company in the 1st Battalion, The RCR before serving as the Battalion’s Deputy Commanding Officer. Lieutenant-Colonel Fearon attended the US Army’s Command and General Staff College and the US Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies in Leavenworth, Kansas where he was awarded two Masters of Military Arts and Science Degrees and the Father Donald W. Smyth History Award as the most outstanding history student. Lieutenant-Colonel Fearon was graciously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 2009 while serving as the Task-Force 3-08 Battle Group Assistant Operations Officer in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He is married to the ever patient Lauralee Fearon, together they have two children, Norah age 9 and Isaac age 6.
